SAPPA Early Career Principal Award 2026

– Nominations Have Now Closed –

Nominations have now closed for the SAPPA Early Career Principal Award 2026, and we are pleased to recognise three outstanding early career leaders who were nominated by their colleagues and communities:

• Leanne Scudds, Newbery Park Primary School
• Derek Gallamore, Keithcot Farm Primary School
• Christie Evans, Basket Range Primary School

Each nomination reflected the strength, commitment and impact of early career principals across our public primary schools. The judging panel was particularly impressed by the examples of instructional leadership, professional growth, collaboration, resilience, inclusive practice and strong connection with school communities.

Being nominated for this award is in itself an important recognition. It reflects the esteem in which these leaders are held by the people who work alongside them and the difference they are making for students, staff and families.

The recipient of the 2026 SAPPA Early Career Principal Award will be announced at the Educators SA World Teachers’ Day Awards Ceremony and Dinner.

We congratulate Leanne, Derek and Christie on their nominations and thank those who took the time to recognise and celebrate their leadership.
